Jagan wants to vote in city for Prez election
Currently in jail in the illegal investments case, Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has sought the Election Commission’s permission to vote in the Presidential election on July 19 from the polling centre at the Assembly building here. Former CM and Congress Rajya Sabha member N. Janardhan Reddy has also requested EC to allow him to vote at the Assembly polling station citing ill health. Being parliamentarians, both are required to cast their votes at the polling station in Parliament, as per norms.
Jagan, who moved the Supreme Court for bail on Monday, sent the request to the EC through Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy. Sources in the EC said they would go through the request of voters (MPs and MLAs) who have sought permission to cast their votes at their respective state headquarters and announce the decision on July 15. But even if the EC allows the YSR Congress president to exercise his vote, he still has to get a conditional bail from court on a specific petition.
