Jagan’s aide Krishna held for extortion

The CID sleuths on Tuesday arrested Y.S. Jagan’s aide Dantaluri Krishna at Jadcharla in Mahbubnagar district in connection with a case of extortion of Rs 1.2 crore in 2008 from sub contractors of Handri-Neeva irrigation project. It is viewed as yet another blow to the Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan who is already in trouble in his assets case.

CID officials, who booked the case based on the complaint of sub contractors Venkata Narasimha Reddy of Mahbubnagar and S.V. Ranga Reddy of Nellore, said the accused Krishna along with Bhanu Kiran and others was involved in extortion of two sub contractors by threatening to kill them.

Krishna was picked up while at Jadcharla checkpost in Shadnagar. Three others who were accompanying him were also picked up. Krishna is also involved in several other criminal cases including the Narayanaguda weapons case where he supplied firearms to Bhanu Kiran. Krishna will be produced in the CID court at Nampally on Wednesday. As he is involved in several offences he is likely to be arrested on PT warrant in these cases.

Bhanu Kiran in 2008 along with D. Krishna established a firm Shourie Estates and purchased 50 acres in Pudu village of Krutivennu mandal of Krishna district from one Kasi. CID booked another case based on the complaint lodged by Chiranjeevi Prasad Raju who alleged his property pledged to one of the associates of Bhanu and Krishna was sold illegally to another person.

Krishna was recently convicted by Anantapur sessions court in the suitcase bomb case to kill TD leader Paritala Ravi in 2001. CBI had also grilled Krishna to clarify his involvement in the murder of Paritala Ravi in January 2005, but did not make any charges against him. Bhanu Kiran has confessed to CID police regarding the involvement of Krishna along with him and factionist Maddalacheruvu Suri in several land dispute settlements in the city, Cyberabad and several districts. He is also involved in settling various disputes in Tollywood, between film director Teja and producer Chadalavada as also C. Kalyan and S. Ramesh, among others.
