Jagan objects to narco test
Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his financial advisor, Vijay Sai Reddy, have opposed the CBI’s petition to conduct a narco-analysis test on them, claiming that it is a move to harass them and an abuse of power by the probe agency. The CBI had earlier filed a petition in the special court for CBI cases, seeking the court’s permission to conduct narco tests on the two, accused in the illegal assets case against the MP.
In a counter-petition filed on Thursday, the duo’s counsel, Ashok Reddy, objected to the CBI petition and alleged that allegations in that petition were misconceived and false. Counsel told the court that there was no need for a narco test, as Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy had already furnished all information available and cooperated with the investigation. “There is no exclusive information that is yet to be disclosed,” the counter-petition stated. It also stated that the same court had rejected a petition for narco analysis on Mr Vijay Sai Reddy in January. The two accused also objected to the narco-analysis stating that the drug administered during the test could be fatal. The counter-petition said the CBI was trying to violate their fundamental right to be silent by forcefully compelling them to record the statement. The court posted the matter to June 19 for further hearing.
