Jagan: Mom to hold reins
YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday made it clear that his mother and the Pulivendula MLA, Ms Vijayamma, will take charge of the party as well as campaign in the impending bypolls in the event of his arrest by CBI. Speaking to the media at Macherla on Thursday morning, Mr Reddy said, “God is there, he is looking at all the happenings, he will take care of everything.” He also appealed to people to observe restraint in case if “something happens” to him.
He said there have been continuous efforts by his political adversaries, the Congress and Telugu Desam, to malign him and his party. “Towards that goal, they have started harassing me, are going to arrest me and create clashes only to say they were engineered by me. Their ultimate goal is to put off the bypolls, showing all these as excuses. That is the reason I appeal to people to understand this and support YSR Congress party,” the MP said.
“I don’t understand why the CBI is acting in such haste, when I am anyway supposed to appear before the CBI court on May 28,” he continued, alleging that there is a conspiracy hatched by the CBI in collusion with the Congress and Telugu Desam parties to arrest him before that date. “The day I shot off a letter to the Prime Minister and Chief Election Commissioner complaining about the conspiracy angle, the same night the CBI summoned me to appear on May 25. This is a conspiracy to arrest me, put the law and order situation on me and postpone the bypolls,” Mr Reddy alleged.
