Infosys US staff dies in city office
An Infosys employee working in Florida died under mysterious circumstances at the company’s Gachibowli campus on Tuesday night. The body of Y. Neelima, who had come to the city on July 22 to visit her husband, was found in a pool of blood on the ground floor of the multi-level car park at around 10.30 pm. Infosys security guards immediately shifted her to Apollo Hospital, but in vain. The Raidurgam police booked a case of suspicious death based on complaint lodged by Neelima’s mother Y. Rani, a resident of Kukatpally.
Ms Rani said, “On Wednesday, at around 3 am, my son-in-law Suresh Reddy called me and said he received a call from Infosys that her body was at Apollo. Why did the company not inform us till 3 am? They said that her purse was on the tenth floor of the parking complex and her sandals were on the seventh floor. I doubt she might have been chased. There are two minor injuries on her chest possibly caused by finger nails. They didn’t allow us to the scene. Police should probe the murder angle also.”
Raidurgam inspector A. Balakoti said, “CCTV images shows she entered the office at around 8.40 pm. She was seen talking on her phone when she entered. Later, she sat at the computer for half-an-hour. Another CCTV footage showed her near the parking lot. We are probing if she had jumped to her death or if there was some other reason behind it.” The police didn’t find any footage after 9.30 pm and there were no CCTVs in the parking lot.
The victim had spoken to her husband Suresh Reddy a Chandanagar resident who runs a mobile telecom shop at Serlingampally and another friend from Visakhapatnam. Mr Suresh Reddy said, “We are happy together. She had come back to India and we were going together back to the States and had booked tickets. On Tuesday afternoon, I dropped her at her home and she called me at night saying she was going to sleep. She didn’t say that she was going to the office.” The couple were married in 2009.
