Hookah parlour ‘kidnaps, assaults’ teen to pay dues

A teenager was kidnapped allegedly by men running a hookah parlour and tortured for two days, as the boy failed to pay a bill of Rs 18,000 after he threw a party for his friends. The boy is P. Deepak, a 19-year-old intermediate student of Gayatri Junior College, SR Nagar, and resident of Borabanda. According to the Banjara Hills police, Deepak threw the party on July 2 at Pot Hookah Centre, Banjara Hills, and promised to pay the bill in 2 to 3 days. However, he failed to pay the bill and ignored the matter. Following this, the men running the centre kidnapped the boy from PVR Centre on July 8 and “brutally beat him up” for two days.

“The boy was under the custody of these men till July 10. At around 4.30 am, the student escaped from Kaleem’s (owner of the hookah parlour) house at Malakpet, and reported the matter to the police,” said Banjara Hills police. According to Syed Nayeem, sub-inspector at the police station, a case has been registered against Kaleem. This was done under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) and r/w 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC.
