A division bench comprising Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar on Friday refused to vacate an interim order directing the Visakhapatnam district collector to seize a complex in which the CMR shopping mall is being operated in, in Vizag city. The bench had granted the interim direction on March 12 while dealing with a taken up case pertaining to encroachment of 27 cents of the land belonging to the ZP High School by two persons, P. Satyanarayana Raju and Suresh Kumar Jain, who subsequently constructed the shopping complex on the land. The owners of the land and proprietors of the mall filed an application seeking vacation of the order. The bench posted the hearing to Monday.
Tsundur case: PP appointment OK
Justice Samudrala Govindarajulu on Friday upheld the government's decision in appointing an advocate from Guntur, B. Chandrasekhar, to conduct the prosecution in the Tsundur carnage case in the AP High Court. The judge was dealing with a plea challenging the appointment of the public prosecutor and an assistant public prosecutor exclusively to conduct the prosecution in the case by persons who were convicted in the case. The judge however quashed the appointment of the assistant PP, observing that no such provision exists under the law.
