Guard ‘killed’ by aides

A 24-year-old security guard was found murdered at his office in Nehrunagar of West Marredpally on Sunday. Police suspects three of his colleagues as they have been absconding since the murder. The deceased was identified as Rahul Nath, a native of Assam.

Marredpally inspector K. Shahank Reddy said that Rahul Nath had been working as field officer in Top Star Securities run by one S. Naveen, 34, since the last one-and-a-half years. The incident came to light when Pankaj, 21, and Pawan, 22, who were on night shift at Kalaniketan at Somajiguda, telephoned Rahul Nath at around 11 am as nobody came to relieve them.

Avinash and Sohail were supposed to relieve them on Sunday morning but didn’t turn up. Following an alert, Naveen rushed to the office and saw that Rahul’s room on the first floor was bolted from outside. Naveen was shocked to see Rahul lying in a pool of blood with his face touching the door. His head was smashed with a dumbell and knives. His head bore knife injuries and a dumbell was recovered from the place.

Naveen found the TV on and realised that the killers had kept the TV on while murdering Rahul. The TV was switched off later by Naveen. Naveen lodged a complaint on Sunday. He suspected that Rahul could have been murdered by Avinash, Sohail and Rupam as they have been missing but couldn’t cite any reasons.

Police suspect that the murder might have taken place on Saturday midnight. Rahul used to stay on the first floor while Avinash, Sohail, Pankaj and Pawan stayed on the ground floor. All of them hailed from Odisha. Rupam who used to stay with his brother at Banjara Hills was in the office on Saturday night indicating his role in the murder, police said. Police registered a murder case against Avinash, Sohail and Rupam and investigating the case.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
