Government offices told to ensure dignity of flag
The state government on Friday took a serious view of the violation of the Indian Flag code at all government offices.
According to the principal secretary to the government, the flag, made of paper, may be waved by the public on occasions and at important events. However, after use, such paper flags should not be discarded or thrown carelessly on the ground, and should be disposed of in private, consistent with the dignity of the flag.
“Government offices after completing the celebration of national events, fail to remove the flags. Due to this lapse the flags fall to the ground, drop into pieces or hang on trees. All this adversely affects the dignity of the flag and what it stands for.
"So all are requested to ensure that paper flags are appropriately disposed of after use and the provisions of the flag code of India should be followed,” said the commissioner, information and public relations department.
