GHMC team raids Somajiguda hotels
Mr L. Vandan Kumar, additional commissioner (Health and Sanitation) has ordered food inspectors to issue showcause notices to the Pulla Reddy sweet shop and the Mainland Chinese Restaurant at Somajiguda. The GHMC had conducted surprise raids on hotels and eateries in Somajiguda on Thursday. The additional commissioner (H and S), chief medical officer Shalini Devi, Balaji Raju and food inspectors conducted raids at the Mainland Chinese Restaurant. Officials found raw and cooked food in fridges that had been kept for longer durations than allowed. The rotten food was seized and sent for examination.
Later, the team inspected the Pulla Reddy sweet shop and found sweets being prepared in unhygienic conditions with no precautions in packing. The team found that the boxes used for packing were filled with dust. The team found that the employees were mostly from Jharkhand and were paid only Rs 4,000 a month, violating the law on minimum wages.
