Furniture shop owner shot with country pistol
A furniture showroom owner who was shot by unidentified persons in Vanasthalipuram late on Tuesday night succumbed to his injuries. The deceased Mohammed Jehangir, 40, asked his attenders to down the shutters of the showroom near Chintalkunta when he was fired at by two persons with a country made tapancha.
Police said that the two took to their heels, dropping the weapon at the scene of offence, after hearing the siren of a patrolling police vehicle. One bullet missed the target while three bullets pierced his body. A native of Guntur district, Mr Jehangir came to the city about 20 years ago and had been running the showroom since the last three to four years. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Jehangir’s family and neighbours said that he didn’t have any enemies. As of now, the police has no clue as to whether it’s the handiwork of hired killers or gangs from other states. The hopes of cops for a breakthrough in the case were dashed as Jehangir died a few hours later without uttering a word at the Kamineni Hospital. Cyberabad police commissioner Ch.D. Tirumala Rao, DCP Chandrasekhar Reddy and ACP Ramchander Rao visited the crime scene. Around eight teams have been formed to nab the killers.
