Five killed as car rams parked lorry
Five members of a family who were returning to Hyderabad from a pilgrimage were killed, and two others were injured in an accident on National Highway 9 on Monday. The mishap occurred in the Basavakalyan taluk of Bidar in Karnataka when the family’s car rammed a stationary lorry. The victims were identified as B.S. Srinivasa Rao, 40, Quality Assurance Manager in Hetero Drugs Limited Hyderabad, his wife B.S. Roja, 35, his mother-in-law Leelavathi, 65, Roja’s grandmother V. Kasthoori, 90, all residents of Kukatpally, near JNTU and B. Raju, 30, the car driver, a resident of Secunderabad.
The injured, B.S. Ritika, 10, and B.S. Deepika, 8, the two daughters of Srinivasa Rao, were rushed to a private hospital in Bidar and were shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. They were declared out of danger by doctors. Police said the accident happened at around 4.30 am when the family was returning to Hyderabad from Shirdi. The car they were travelling rammed a lorry parked on the right side of the road. The front and right side of the red Tavera car were completely damaged. The two children were sitting in the back, police said. Basavakalyan inspector N.D. Sanadi said, “The accident occurred on a straight road. The driver must have dozed off. Otherwise he could have easily seen the lorry on the right side of the road.”

It is a sad incidence.Moreover this road has not been developed into a four lane road yet.Night driving by car's in this route should be avoided.They must have started late night from Shirdi and the driver must have been feeling sleepy and the Lorry parked might not have kept the back lights on which resulted in this tragedy.
