Ex-judge’s bail plea rejected
Justice Samudrala Govindarajulu of AP High Court on Tuesday dismissed the bail application of former judge D. Prabhakar Rao, accused in the cash-for-bail scam of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy. The court dismissed the bail plea on the ground that investigation in the case is still on and the probe agency is collecting further evidence, including oral evidence from witnesses. Arrested by the ACB in the case, Mr Prabhakar Rao has been in judicial custody since July 12.
Babu told to implement order
Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao of AP High Court on Tuesday gave two weeks to principal secretary, Backward Classes department, A.K. Parida to implement the court’s order regarding continuance of contract teachers in schools for Backward Classes welfare. V. Mohan Rao and 121 others had moved a contempt case against Mr Parida, alleging that the official willfully disobeyed the orders of the court and refused continuation of teachers employed on contract with the AP Residential Educational Institutions Society in Hyderabad.
