Dwarf held for tall lies
A dwarf who cheated a 22-year-old woman pretending to be a handsome man was arrested by the CID. The dwarf had also posted another person’s photograph on Bharat students.com and Facebook, and had claimed that it was his photo.
The arrested man was identified as Prajapathi, 31, a resident of Ferozguda in Bowenpally. Police said that he had allegedly siphoned off Rs 23 lakh in cash and gold by promising to marry the complainant. The accused was arrested on Tuesday and remanded to judicial custody.
Prajapathi is the son of a retired IDPL employee. Police recovered rs 4.75 lakh in cash and 18.5 tola of gold from the accused. A laptop, two mobile phones and the data card used for the offense were also seized.
The police received the complaint from the victim who is an engineering student based at Guntur on October 17. She said that she had come into contact with Prajapathi on Facebook and used to speak to him on the phone frequently.
CID Additional DG S.V. Ramana Murthy said, “He proposed to marry her and she agreed to it. He told her that he had a kidney problem and requested money from the woman. As her father was facing a similar problem she agreed to help him using the gold and cash saved by her parents for her marriage.”
Prajapathi told her that he will send his friend Sridhar who is a dwarf to collect the money as he is hospitalised. However Prajapathi himself impersonated as Sridhar and collected money,
Police said that the accused Prajapathi alias Sridhar when he met the girl told her that his is attendant of her boy friend.
The accused Prajapathi is an intermediate drop out and police said he is known for talkativeness and talks to the girls using filmy dialogues. "He visited Goa and Puducherry on flights and lead a luxurious life with the money he siphoned off. He was about to dupe two other girls and we alerted them" said an investigator.
She agreed and gradually on different dates from January 2012 to October 2012 gave a net cash Rs 3 lakhs and gold ornaments of about 50tulas which her parents kept for the purpose of marriage of the victim girl and her elder sister, where in Mr Sridhar used to come andcollect that money and ornaments saying that Rajapathi is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
Police booked the case under section 66 A and 66 D of IT act and section 420 for cheating and the case is investigated by inspector of police Mr A Ramulu.CID Additional DG Ramana Murthy said,â?the dwarf man confessed he is3.5 feet height and downloaded a handsome image of an unknown person which he created facebook profile to trap girls. Unknowingly the victim girl fell in his trap and during their conversation she revealed that her parents readied cash and gold ornaments. Hence the accused hatched a plan to collect cash and gold from her. In the name of medical expenses he collected the cash and gold from her by going to Guntur. Prajapathi sold some and made money and remaining he pledged at Muthoot Finance Corporation, Sangareddy ,â?
Police said that the father of the accused gave an advertisement in newspaper two years ago disowning him stating that the parents will not be responsible for his liabilities.
