Drowsy techie rams car into 3 at Kothapet

Three persons were injured when a software engineer fell asleep at the wheels of his car and rammed into them at the Kothapet fruit market on Tuesday. The driver of the car, Mr Varun Kumar, 24, works for Microsoft in Hitec City. He was returning home after completing night duty at around 7 am when the mishap occurred.

Chaitanyapuri SI B. Prabhakar said that the accident took place just half-a-km away from Mr Kumar’s house. He was exhausted after the night shift and had left his office at around 6.30 am and had dozed off at the wheels. Two brothers, Mr Hanumanthu, 37, and Mr Tulasiram, 41, both fruit vendors, are being treated at the Anurag Orthopaedic Centre for their injuries while the third victim, an auto-rickshaw driver, Mr Mohammed Rafiq, 40, was shifted to Osmania General Hospital with fractured legs.
