Divine help sought to curb peeing in public
God and saints will now step in to curb the menace of urinating in public. The GHMC will put up religious symbols and pictures on walls to this effect. GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu gave the orders while inspecting the various COP-11 routes. Noticing open urination points in front of the IAS Officers’ Quarters, he also asked officials to construct a public toilet there in coordination with Sulabh.
In connection with the upcoming United Nations Conference of Parties (COP-11) on Biological Diversity to be held in the city in October, Mr Krishna Babu, along with senior officials, on Wednesday inspected ongoing works and the conditions of roads and footpaths from the Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar Junction to Golconda and various other routes related to COP-11. The Commissioner was not at all pleased with GHMC executive engineers given the poor state of roads and footpaths near Mythrivanam and Erramanzil Quarters near the Punjagutta where waterlogging has been inconveniencing citizens. He ordered that a storm water drain be constructed near the point.
He also directed the zonal commissioner (Central) to cancel the trade licence and to collect a fine of Rs 10,000 from private travels and a tiffin centre that were occupying the footpath near Mythrivanam Ammerpet.
Mr Krishna Babu also asked HMWS&SB officials to ensure that sewage water did not overflow in front of Ravindra Bharathi to Assembly Road as most VIPs used the road.
