Dharmana’s son, two MLAs get summons
The liquor scam probe took a curious turn ahead of June 11, when the report on the matter has to be submitted to the AP High Court. The ACB hurriedly issued notices to minister Dharmana Prasada Rao’s son D. Ram Manohar Naidu alias Chinni, and three PAs who allegedly took Rs 1 lakh each from the liquor syndicate. The ACB also arrested Butchi Babu, a liquor syndicate leader from Vizianagaram, for auction irregularities.
The ACB also served notices under CrPC Section 160 to Congress legislator M. Kavita (Mahbubabad), TD MLAs Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu (Visakhapatnam), Ch. Venkata Veeraiah (Sattupally), YSR Congress contestants D. Krishnadas from Narsannapet and Chenna Keshava Reddy from Yemmiganur. The ACB found that the liquor syndicate leaders had purchased flight tickets for MLA Ramakrishna Babu. Interestingly, the ACB spared the relatives of PCC president Botsa Satyanarayana and Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha.
Former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana, who is in judicial custody in the Jagan investments case, has not been served notice though a syndicate leader, Nunna Venkata Ramana, confessed that he had paid Rs 10 lakh to him. ACB sources said that based on the oral confessions of the arrested syndicate leaders notices were being served to political leaders to send a message to the AP High Court that the investigating agency was also focusing on politicians. The ACB has asked them to appear on June 18, 19 and 20.
