Develop tech to combat cyber crimes: Governor
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan called upon the engineering fraternity of the Army to develop new technologies to combat new challenges, particularly the threat of cyber crime.
He was delivering the convocation address at the Military College of Elec-tronics and Mechanical Engineering at Trimul-gherry here on Friday.
The Governor also suggested that the civilian and armed services should join hands to sort out issues arising in the present era of technological advancement.
He said the changes in the military environment require development of new competencies among the officers. This would enable them to conduct successful operations in emerging strategic environments.
He called on Army engineers to develop indigenous technology to avoid dependence on foreign products. “Our engineers are capable of attaining high levels of skills and excellence to achieve their goals in this area,” he said.
The Governor conferred degrees and presented awards to young engineering graduates of the Corps of Electronics and Mecha-nical Engineers and other arms and service officers.
A total of 26 officers graduated in the 90th Degree Engineering Cour-se. Twenty-two officers graduated in the 17th Technical Entry Scheme Course and were awarded Bachelor of Technology degrees from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
