Desam to take BC declaration to PM

The Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, is planning to take his Backward Class declaration to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for possible implementation across the country, according to a senior party leader. Mr Naidu plans to meet the Prime Minister and other Opposition leaders during his visit to New Delhi on August 21.

Confirming the development, TD’s Rajya Sabha member T. Devender Goud told this newspaper from New Delhi: “We are trying to seek an appointment with the Prime Minister on behalf of Mr Naidu to submit the BC declaration to him on August 21. We will meet the PMO on Friday.” He said the proposed meeting with the PM is exclusively for BC declaration. The TD plans to urge Mr Singh to form a separate ministry for BC Welfare in view of their large population in India.
