Dacoit from city arrested with weapons by Nalgonda police
Nalgonda police arrested a dacoit from the city as he was in possession of two weapons illegally.
Police raided the house of Mohammed Dawood Zakir, 39, of Rahmath-nagar in Nalgonda on Tuesday and seized a foreign-made pistol and a country-made gun with ammunition. According to Nalgonda SP, Mr Navin Gulati, the accused Dawood, a native of Vanasthalipuram, was involved in 17 cases incl-uding property crimes.
“He began committing crimes since 1991 for easy money and a ‘Known Dacoit’ sheet was opened against him in 2004 and it is still being maintained. He indulged in extortions, dacoities, robberies in Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar, Banjara Hills, Ramachandrapuram, Saroornagar and Nampally areas. He was also involved in a hired killing case at SR Nagar in 1997,” said Mr Gulati. Dawood’s father owned 5,500 square yards of land adjacent to Sushma theatre at Vanasthalipuram. After his father’s death, Dawood won a legal battle for the property and sold it later. He developed differences with his wife over the proceeds of the property and bought the weapons to protect himself against her brother, who is also a historysheeter.
