Court turns down CBI plea for narco test on Jagan, auditor
A special court at Nampally on Monday rejected the CBI’s plea to conduct a narco analysis, a lie-detector and BEAP test on jailed Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his auditor V. Vijay Sai Reddy in connection with the former’s alleged illegal investments case.
Rejecting the plea, CBI court principal special judge U. Durga Prasad agreed with counsels for the accused that as per the Supreme Court guidelines, narcoanalysis and other scientific tests cannot be conducted without the consent of the accused.
Both Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy and Mr Vijay Sai Reddy had earlier refused to undergo the tests stating that they would lead to health complications and might even endanger their lives.
YSR Congress chief’s counsel Ashok Reddy said, “The CBI’s petition was dismissed based on a Supreme Court ruling and because it was a repeat plea filed by the agency.
