Cops rescue maid working in Riyadh
Police rescued a 22-year-old city girl taken to Riyadh to work as a housemaid. The girl complained that she was being harassed and ill- treated by the people who took her there. The sister of the victim registered a complaint and sought the help of the cops to get her sister back.
According to DCP, South zone, on May 3, he received a complaint from Shahnaz Begum, a resident of Sadath Nagar, Yakutpura, regarding harassment of her younger sister, Zakera Begum.
Shahnaz Begum, in her complaint stated, “My younger sister Zakera Begum went to Riyadh on May 5 and was staying with Saudi nationals Amood and Saleh. Two days after reaching Riyadh, I got a call from her that her employers were harassing her. She said that they had cut her hair and expressed her desire to return, but was not allowed.”
The police, after receiving the complaint, started a probe. The agent, Ahmed Khan, who sent the girl abroad, had gone missing.
The cops contacted the Consulate of KSA in Mumbai and the Indian Embassy in Riyadh, and managed to get Zakera Begum freed. A complaint was lodged against Ahmed.
