Cops probe if Umesh did puja to harm DG

The Cyberabad police is probing into allegations that senior cop Umesh Kumar had reportedly performed a puja two months ago at a city temple in LB Nagar to harm his rival, director-general of police V. Dinesh Reddy. The investigations are based on information provided by one Syed Naufail, who claims to be a fortune-teller.

He alleged that Mr Kumar, along with priests of the Pratyangira temple in RK Puram Telephone Colony of LB Nagar, had conducted a puja to harm Mr Dinesh Reddy. Mr Naufail met the DGP at state police headquarters on Wednesday. “This took place two months back. I met Umesh Kumar through one Mallikarjun Rao of Pratyangira temple and predicted that he would be involved in court cases and asked him to compromise or leave the state,” Mr Naufail said. “He asked whether I could do anything to hurt Dinesh (Reddy) but I refused. But later, after 8.30 pm, after the temple closed, I found that a puja was going on and the priest Vittal Sharma and Mallikarjun Rao were present,” he said.

Fortune teller says dgp name written in blood
Describing the alleged puja intended to harm director-general of police Dinesh Reddy, fortune teller Syed Naufail said: “On a white cloth one name was written in blood. Later when I asked them they said it was Dinesh Reddy’s name,” Mr Naufail claimed. “I went to LB Nagar ACP Amarender Reddy and complained two days back. He has now started the inquiry. Today I went to the DGP’s office along with Vittal Sharma and Mallikarjun Rao who confessed in front of him that the puja was done to harm him.” Cyberabad police commissioner Ch D. Tirumala Rao said, “We haven’t received any formal complaint so far but we have received certain information based on which an inquiry is on.” Mr Umesh Kumar was not available for comment.
