Cops discover Maoist dump
The Cyberabad police on Monday unearthed two Maoist dumps in Rachakonda hills on the city’s outskirts within Manchal police station limits.
Nine hundred gelatin sticks were found in the dumps, which, according to the police, must have been intended for future use by the Maoists in targeting key installations of the police. Police booked a case under provisions of the Explosive Substances Act, attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy.
The search, which first led them to a boulder, had beneath it a 100-litre-capacity plastic bucket with 500 gelatin sticks. Another, 50 yards away, a plastic cover was hidden with the remainder, each stick weighing about 125 grams, said Manchal police inspector T. Venugopala Swamy, who led the search. A container used for making landmines and battery cells was also found.
