Cops biased against T-leaders, says Harish
TRS deputy floor leader in the Assembly, Mr T. Harish Rao, on Friday accused a section of the police of bearing prejudice against MLAs and activists from Telangana, which leads to filing “false cases” against them.
Mr Harish Rao, who was slapped with criminal cases for allegedly abusing DCP Stephen Ravindra during a protest at Vidyuth Soudha, alleged that the same police officials gave a red-carpet welcome to Telugu Desam president Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Lagdapati Rajagopal and BJP leaders when they staged similar protests.
“The police behaved in a high-handed manner when we went to submit a memorandum to the APTransco CMD at Vidyuth Soudha,” he alleged. “We had no intention of protesting and we informed police officers about it. But policemen treated us like criminals.”
Claiming that as an MLA he was only doing his “duty” to air public grievances and is ready face the cases, Mr Harish Rao urged Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar to help elected representatives raising public issues.
