Cop found dead at minister’s enclave
A cop on security duty at the residence of Union minister of state for defence, Mr Pallam Raju, died under suspicious circumstances on Sunday.
The deceased, Bhupender Singh, 55, a head constable with the Central Armed Reserve Headquarters, was found dead in the water fountain at Road No. 46, Jubilee Hills, police said.
Police suspect that Bhupender died due to cardiac arrest. Another head constable Yousufuddin, who was also on security duty, found his body in the water fountain. According to Jubilee Hills sub-inspector, Mr K. Kanakaiah, Bhupender, a resident of Sultan Shahi, had come for duty at 10 am.
“Bhupender and Yousufuddin had a chat at around 11 am. When Yousufuddin went outside, Bhupender was sitting near the fountain. One hour later, the victim was found dead in the water,” he said.
“During the initial inspection, we suspected that he died due to heart failure,” he added.
His body was found with an injury on the back of his head. Police assume that it happened when he fell down in the fountain.
Police said Bhupender had been on security duty at the minister’s house for the last two months. The body was sent to Osmania Hospital for post-mortem. Jubilee Hills police had booked a case under Section 174 of the IPC, and launched an investigation.
