Congress, td clash kills 1

One person was killed and 14 others injured — three of them grievously — when Telugu Desam and Congress supporters clashed under the Garividi police limits in Vizianagaram district on Sunday.

Sources said political arguments that had taken place in August between two youths owing allegi-ance to the Congress and the TD respectively culm-inated to Sunday’s clash.

Since August, nine ca-ses have been registered relating to the issue.

On Sunday morning, two groups pelted stones and attacked each other armed with sticks after the women left to harvest the paddy crop.

“Though both groups belong to the Yadava community, the village has been tense for the past four months despite our vigil to prevent any untoward incident,” said Cheepurapalli circle inspector T. Mohana Rao.
