Confusion over DSC teachers’ examination schedule
Following the AP Administrative Tribunal orders on Thursday directing the state government to allow D.Ed candidates, who have completed graduation, to appear for the school assistant exams, there is some uncertainty about whether the DSC teachers’ recruitment exams, scheduled for August 26, will be held.
Nearly 4.3 lakh candidates have registered for the examination for 21,300 posts. According to the notification issued by the government earlier, candidates with D.Ed qualification were eligible for only secondary grade teacher (SGT) posts, while candidates with B.Ed were eligible for school assistant (SA) posts.
D.Ed candidates challenged the notification in the AP Administrative Tribunal, which directed the government to allow D.Ed candidates, who completed their graduation, to sit for SA exams.
While nearly four lakh B.Ed candidates have registered for the SA exam for 6,100 posts, about 35,000 candidates have applied for SGT exam for 6,100 SGT posts.
However, the department of school education that conducts these exams says it cannot allow D.Ed students to sit for the SA exam at this stage as it will be difficult to issue hall tickets and arrange exam centres for them within two days. Minister for secondary education Parthasaradhi said, “We plan to hold DSC exams as scheduled as they were postponed twice. We are speaking to legal experts over the orders and planning to move the High Court on Friday.”
