Compound wall of school pulled down
Tension prevailed when the compound wall of the St. Joseph’s E.M. School, an institute under the Aliabad (Quasi): Church of Our Lady of Grace (2006), was demolished by government authorities on Friday morning. The parish officials say that the authorities didn’t notify them. On the contrary; they ill-treated and assaulted the priests who asked for proof and some time.
Principal Father M. Galeji said, “Around 50 people arrived in the morning and said they will break up the compound wall, but they didn’t show any demolition letter. We didn’t construct any building, just fencing so that animals could not enter the campus. The JCP started demolishing the fence and damaged a few things on the campus. Two priests, who were trying to stop them to prevent the students from getting hurt, were beaten up.”
However, Shamshabad police said, “On Friday, at around 11 am, a crane was brought to break down the entrance gate of the St. Joseph’s E.M. School, which was constructed on government land. The parish and school authorities were notified but they did not respond.”
