Colleges reject online admission for owner quota
Private medical colleges are protesting the state government’s move to conduct “online admissions” for seats in the 40 per cent management quota as suggested by Governor and chancellor of universities E.S.L. Narasimhan.
They have threatened to conduct their own entrance test from next year for all the seats and not be part of the state government’s Eamcet.
The college managements claim that the admissions procedure and fee structure devised by the state are totally “irrational” and against the directions of the Supreme Court.
Objecting to the government’s move to conduct online admissions for management courses, the All-India Unaided Medical Colleges & Private Universities Welfare Association president Ganni Bhaskara Rao said: “The statements being made by the government regarding the management quota seats have been creating confusion and panic among students and parents. We will not accept any changes in the admission procedure this year, since only three weeks are left for the first year MBBS classes to commence.”
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, Dr Rao found fault with the policy of the state government of cross-subsidising medical education and categorising seats as convenor quota and management quota and prescribing different fee structures for these seats.
“As per Supreme Court directions, there cannot be different fee structure,” he said.
