CM: YSR’s hands forced by Jagan
Citing earlier instances, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday said that properties of Sakshi newspaper and TV channel owned by YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy are under pressure as money earned illegally was invested in the media house.
Addressing a meeting of Congress activists in Nagulapadu village of Prattipadu mandal of Guntur district, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said former CM Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had issued a GO for the attachment of properties of Satyam Computers proprietor Ramalinga Raju. He added that former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu had signed a similar GO to attach properties of the Krushi Bank.
The CM made it clear that there was no secret behind the moves to attach Sakshi properties. Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy alleged that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy had coerced YSR to favour some industrialists and earned immense wealth through corrupt means. “This is why the CBI is investigating his illegal assets," he said, adding, "Jagan forced his father to sign some papers under the table. I never signed papers under the table.”
The CM alleged that though the media owned by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was indulging in propaganda against the Congress government, the voters will not believe it as they are wise. He said MLA Sucharita violated the party Whip and voted in favour of No Confidence Motion moved by the Telugu Desam and hence was disqualified. The CM said welfare schemes are being introduced by his government and reminded that he reduced the price of subsidised rice to Rs 1-a-kg. “The government is implementing the interest free crop loan scheme for the welfare of farmers. Tuit-ion fee reimbursement, scholarships, Rajiv Arogyasri schemes are being continued at a cost of Rs 26,000 crore, benefiting 8.5 lakh families,” he said.
