CM takes legal opinion on Dharmana case
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has started the process of obtaining legal opinion on the contents of the chargesheet against R and B minister Dharmana Prasada Rao. The CBI has sought permission to prosecute the minister as he was also charged under Prevention of Corruption Act. Sources said the Chief Minister has sought the advice of Advocate General A. Sudarshan Reddy on the issue.
Simultaneously, the CM is also holding talks with the Congress leadership on the follow-up action over the resignation letter submitted by Mr Dharmana, owning moral responsibility. Mr Reddy will be embarking on a three-day Indiramma Baata in West Godavari district from August 17 to 19. Sources said Mr Reddy, who has been weighing the pros and cons of the political fallout of Dharmana's resignation, is in a bit of a quandary about how to proceed as any decision may lead to more complications. The CM can’t indefinitely postpone his decision on the resignation letter, as that will be exploited by the Opposition.
Meanwhile, there is also a demand for the removal of secondary education minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana as he has already been convicted by a Fera Court. The CBI wants to proceed with chargesheets against two more ministers for their alleged involvement in Jagan Reddy cases
