Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will decide on Friday on whether to allow the Telangana march on September 30 in the city or not. Though he is firm in seeking postponement of the march in view of the tense situation in the city on the eve of the Ganesh immersion and the Cop-11 summit, almost all the ministers from the Telangana region, who met here on Thursday morning, decided to seek his permission for the march.

The ministers who met at the residence of major irrigation minister P. Sudarshan Reddy discussed the TJAC’s appeal to allow the march and gave the assurance that it would be conducted peacefully. Later, the T ministers decided to meet the Chief Minister in the evening and appraise him of the situation, including the Telangana sentiment. The CM who returned to the city in the evening after a hectic three-day Indiramma Baata programme in Krishna district, asked the ministers to meet him on Friday at 10 am in the Camp Office when a final decision on whether or not to permit the march will emerge.

The TJAC has stated that the march would be held on September 30 around Hussainsagar regardless of the government’s permission. It has been reliably learnt that the CM is keeping the Congress High Command informed about developments. Senior Congress MP Palvai Govardhana Reddy, who was in Delhi, met Congress leader Vayalar Ravi and told him to instruct the Chief Minister to allow the march. Some of the Telangana ministers too conveyed their views to the party High Command, building up pressure on the CM to allow the march.

Telangana Congress MPs who met at the residence of K. Kesava Rao have also decided to participate in the march.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
