CM to ask TJAC to call off Sept. 30 stir
The Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, and all ministers from Telangana region would appeal to the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) on Friday to call off its proposed ‘Chalo Hyderabad’ rally on September 30 in an effort to ward off any untoward incident and keep Hyderabad’s brand image intact.
Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy met his Cabinet ministers from the region at the Jubilee Hall on Thursday evening and discussed the proposed rally, which demands immediate statehood for Telangana. It was felt in the meeting that the rally is not desirable since it comes a day after Ganesh immersion and a day before the global biodiversity conference, Cop-11, gets going in the city.
The Chief Minister and his ministers are of the view that the Ganesh immersion, which starts on September 29, is likely to stretch till midnight and if the rally is also held the same day it may lead to law and order problems. Of 15 ministers from Telangana, six ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and Mr Jana Reddy, were not part of the meeting despite prior notice.
