City cops still look out for Hamza
Hyderabad terror suspect Abu Hamza, alias Abdul Bari, against whom an Interpol red corner notice was issued, is still wanted by the state police. Abu Hamza, alias Ansari, arrested at the IGI airport in New Delhi in connection with the Mumbai terror attacks, is from Maharashtra. However, intelligence agencies suspect he has connections in Hyderabad.
It is suspected that Harkat Ul Jihad Al Islami terror suspect Sheik Abdul Khwaja, alias Amjad, who was arrested in January 2010 had met Abu Hamza at a Lashkar-e-Tayyaba office in Rawalpindi in Pakistan. Meanwhile, 22 people including Abdul Bari from Yakutpura, suspected of being terrorists and wanted by the police, are apparently hiding in Pakistan, Sau-di Arabia and Bangladesh.
“Abdul Bari has been absconding for several years and is suspected to be behind several terror attacks in South India,” said an official of state counter-intelligence unit. Earlier, there were reports that Abdul Bari was dead but the reports were not confirmed. The police said that in the intercepted messages, Ansari was heard asking terrorists in Hindi to conceal their Pakistani identity and identify themselves as Deccan Mujahideen hailing from Toli Chowki in the city.
