CID to put Salar on trial
The state government has granted permission to the CID to prosecute former SIMI chief Syed Salahuddin Salar in the Sai Baba temple blast case. Salahuddin is a resident of Nalgonda and was allegedly involved in the blast that took place in 2002 in Dilsukhnagar. He will be tried for murder, attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy, Sections 3, 4 & 5 of the Explosive Substances Act and for promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion. State prosecution is mandatory under the Explosive Substances Act.
A native of Rehman Bagh, Adilpura, Mal Road in Nalgonda district, Salahuddin was named as Ac-cused No. 10 in the case. CID sleuths had brought Salahuddin to the city from Ujjain Prison in July 2011. He had been arrested from Kochi in June 2011 after he had returned from Dubai. Two persons had succumbed to injuries in the blast on November 21, 2002.
