Chargers not in arrears, match on: HC
The AP High Court on Wednesday refused to grant a stay to restrain Deccan Chargers from conducting IPL cricket matches at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal. Justice G.V. Seethapathy was dealing with a plea from Sagar Cricket Club stating that Deccan Chargers owed Rs 3 crore in arrears to the Hyderabad Cricket Associat-ion (HCA).
HCA counsel B. Adin-arayana Rao submitted before the court that Deccan Chargers had no arrears, but on the contrary, it was the HCA that owes Rs 75 lakh to the Deccan Chargers. While questioning the eligibility of the petitioner in filing the plea, the judge refused to stay the matches and issued notices to the respondents, directing them to file counter affidavits within two weeks.
Shankar names petitioners
Former minister P. Shankar Rao on Wednesday filed an additional affidavit before the High Court, disclosing the names of 20 persons who have represented him with regard to alleged red sanders scam.
The list included the name of former forest minister and P. Ramachandra Reddy and others from Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Nellore districts. The former minister said that he heard about the red sanders scam from them during his visit to the districts. Dr Shankar Rao had filed a writ before the High Court alleging that the Chief Minister himself was involved in the scam, by allowing three companies to export the red sanders at throwaway prices. The court directed him file an affidavit about the representations he rece-ived in this regard.
