Maintaining that cases regarding electoral offences would run into thousands, Bhanwar Lal said after he took charge there were bypolls to the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly seats and seven other assembly seats in which nearly 200 cases were booked. “The severity of the case depends on chargesheet and witnesses,” he said adding that he would review pending cases. The CEO said the Anatapur Collector was asked to submit a report on allegations of code violation by minister S. Sailajanath who according to the complainants distributed umbrellas to voters in Anantapur.
