Cash-for-bail scam: Passport of Judge’s son held
In the cash-for-bail scam case, the Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested and seized the passport of T. Ravi Chandra, the son of the suspended CBI special judge T. Pattabhi Rama Rao. The ACB will decide on whether or not to file a petition for taking into custody another accused, retired judge T.V. Chalapathi Rao, also implicated in the case, as he is going in for an open heart surgery in a few days’ time.
Meanwhile, in the remand diary of the accused in the cash-for-bail scam, ACB DSP T. Raghupathi Goud said, “This is a case of criminal misconduct, abuse of official position and accepting illegal gratification by the accused judge T. Pattabhi Rama Rao from Gali Janardhan Reddy’s brother G. Somashekar Reddy and the other accused, G. Dasaratha Ram Reddy and MLA T. Suresh Babu, through his son T. Ravi Chandra. This was mediated by Chalapathi Rao and Aditya and P. Yadagiri.”
The remand report alleged, “A huge amount was paid as illegal gratification to Pattabhi Rama Rao who was then the first additional special judge for ACB cases for showing official favour of granting bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy, arrested in the OMC scam.”
