Byreddy to fast for Rayalaseema
Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samiti convener Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy will undertake a deeksha for separate Rayalaseema state at Kurnool from August 4 to 7. Intensifying the demand for separate Rayalaseema state, Mr Reddy said he had raked up the issue in view of a likely decision on Telangana soon.
“All political parties should spell out their stand on Rayalaseema. If a T-decision is taken, Rayalaseema would be the worst-off. Either AP should continue on existing line or the state should be divided into three parts,” Mr Reddy said. He added, “My four-day deeksha is to highlight the plight of four districts of Rayalaseema that are drought-prone and have been neglected since ages.”
The TD leader refuted allegations by the TRS and other leaders from Telangana that he had raked up the issue of statehood for Rayalaseema to stall the T-process. “We have no objection to Telangana. If it is carved out, Rayalaseema should also be made a separate state since it has been neglected for long,” he said.
