Bypolls on June 12; voter card must: EC

In a first for the state, the Election Commission on Friday has made Electoral Photo Identity Card mand-atory to cast votes in the forthcoming bypolls to 18 Assembly segments and the lone Nellore Lok Sabha seat.

Issuing the notificati-on for the bypolls to be held on June 12, the EC said the filing of nominati-ons, which began on Frid-ay, will end on May 25.

The scrutiny will take place on May 26 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is May 28. Counting will take place on June 15.
