Burglar nabbed, 2kg gold seized
Central Crime Station police on Wednesday nabbed Ibrahim Siddiqui, a thief who was wanted in 30 burglaries. Siddiqui, 50, from Ambedkarnagar in Ameerpet, had broken into homes in the limits of Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar, Panjagutta and Banjara Hills since 2005, said DCP, CCS, P. John Victor.
About 2 kg of gold ornaments and 1 kg of silver ornaments, worth about Rs 60 lakh, were recovered from shops in Mahara-shtra and Karnataka, where he sold them. Cops said he posed as a vegetable vendor during the day and identified locked houses and broke in at night. In 1986, he operated as part of a gang. Later, he began committing crimes on his own. He was convicted for burglary in Nellore in 2004. But after the jail term, he returned to committing crimes.
