Boy stabbed as he tries to save sister from molester
A Class IV boy received knife injuries while trying to save his sister from a molestation bid in Maddur of Mahbubnagar district on Monday morning. The boy Bannaiah, 9, and his sister Bannamma, 12, were going to school for their annual examination when Anjaneyulu, 23, from a neighbouring village allegedly intercepted them and tried to abduct the girl.
Maddur SI Mahesh Kumar said the boy and the girl were from the Veeraram village in Maddur mandal. The boy resisted when Anjaneyulu from Kommuru village tried to abduct his sister and in the process got stabbed. Passers-by nabbed the attacker and handed him over to the police. The boy’s father Thirupathaiah, who ekes out a living as a farmer shifted his bleeding son to Kosgi government hospital. He was later shifted to the Mahbubnagar Gover-nment hospital. “The boy suffered injuries on his hands and chin. There are no wounds in the stomach. He is out of danger,” the sub-inspector said.
Following a complaint by the boy’s father, the police registered a case against the accused under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage modesty) and Section 307 (attempt to murder).
