Aruna’s request for collector rejected

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy effected a bureaucratic reshuffle on Thursday by posting and transferring more than a dozen IAS officials including Srikakulam Collector G. Venkatarami Reddy. Mr Reddy’s name had figured in the on-going CBI probe into Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy’s illegal investments case. Due to the reshuffle, three officers got their first opportunity to serve as collectors. Meanwhile, four other officers who were transferred from their existing posts are yet to be given postings.

There will be another reshuffle soon as vacancies will arise at the senior level including the chief secretary’s post as the present CS, Mr Pankaj Dwivedi, will retire on June 30. Two special chief secretaries, Mr G. Sudhir (health) and Mr S. Bhale Rao (animal husbandry) will also retire on the same day. The government is also looking for a chief commissioner of land administration to replace Ms Minnie Mathew as she is set to become the new chief secretary. Though information minister D.K. Aruna had insisted that Medak Collector S. Suresh Kumar should be posted in her native Mahbubnagar district, the Chief Minister gave him Guntur district in place of Mr Vishnu who is yet to be given a posting along with Mr Venkatarami Reddy and Mr Ramasankar Naik (Kurnool Collector).

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
