Arrest of SCB engineers, ward members likely
Sources said CBI has found incriminating evidence that some Secunderabad Cantonment Board officials conspired with the builders to put up unauthorised constructions in the Cantonment area.
The CBI verified the files pertaining to 10 buildings that have been under their scanner since April 2011. Three of the buildings are in Mahindra Hills, three in Bolaram, two in Fisherpura and two in Bowenpally.
They recorded the statements of former SCB CEO C. Ravindra and present CEO S. Balakrishna. A new CBI team has taken over the investigation into the nexus between SCB officials, builders and ward members in encouraging illegal building. The officers of the previous CBI team that had searched the homes of Mr Ravindra, five engineers and two builders, in April 2011, have been shifted to the team probing Jagan Mohan Reddy’s assets’ case. Sources in the CBI did not rule out the arrest of some engineers and ward members in the next two days.
