Apache got an acre for Rs 1
A Congress leader on Friday alleged that the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) had allocated 100 acres of land to the Singapore-based Apache company at Rs 1 per acre in Potti Sriramulu Nellore district in 2010 when Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah was chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Former vice-president of the District Congress Kanaparti Srinivasa Rao said that he had obtained the information under the RTI Act from the APIIC.
As against this, he claimed, the Rosaiah government had allotted land to the Spices Board in Guntur district at `50,000 per acre for setting up a Spices Park on 124 acres.
He questioned the propriety of the government for showing unjust favour to Apache Footwear while giving it 333 acres in Mambattu village in Nellore.
He said that the land that was leased initially was later sold to the company. He stated that the registrar had raised objections to the registration of land at the low price.
