AP students may lose seats in Karnataka
Nearly 10,000 students from Andhra Pradesh are in danger of losing MBBS, BDS and B.Tech seats in Karnataka unless the Andhra Pradesh government comes to their rescue immediately.
The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has refused to allot seats to the students, despite the good ranks secured by them in the KCET.
The KEA claimed that the students had passed a supplementary exam, whereas in reality, they had appeared in the Inter second year physics improvement exam in May this year.
Meanwhile, parents have blamed the Board of Intermediate Education for issuing the marks memos by tagging improvement exam students as “supplementary exam students”.
The Board permitted Intermediate second year students to appear in an improvement exam for the first time this year after a large number of students had failed or secured low marks. However, the Board tagged them as “supplementary students” in the marks memos. This technically meant that they had failed in the exams held in March and cleared the supplementary exams in May.
The notification issued by the KEA states: “No student who appeared for improvement examinations (supplementary) is eligible for counselling and all the ranks are nullified.”
