Ambulances to Nims stuck in jam
The caving in of the road at Panjagutta, near the Nims Hospital, on Friday for the second time in a matter of 15 days led to heavy traffic congestion on a major portion of its carriage area and on all connecting roads for over four hours.
Traffic flow came to a complete halt at Panjagutta, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Ameerpet, Begumpet, Raj Bhavan Road, Khairatabad, Lakdikapul, LB Nagar up to Kukatpally. Ambulances trying to reach the Nims Hospital, in whose vicinity this happened, were stuck too.
Additional commissioner of police (traffic) C.V. Anand said if GHMC officials did not complete the repair works by Monday, as promised, they would not be able to handle the traffic as the road was a national highway on which 3,500 RTC buses and over 3 lakh vehicles plied everyday.
Motorists’ woes did not let up till late evening when traffic diversions were introduced on roads. Traffic was slow until night.
