After reshuffle, Centre to settle T-issue in November
With the central Cabinet reshuffle finally over and with indications that a similar reshuffle at the AICC level will be affected in the first week of November, it is widely expected by Congress leaders from the state that the party president, Sonia Gandhi, might ask the Centre to announce its decision on the Telangana issue in November itself.
Party leaders like Palvai Govardhana Reddy, MP from the Telangana region, and Lagadapati Rajagopal, MP from the Coastal region, are of the opinion that the Telangana issue might be settled in November.
It had already been reported in this newspaper that Gandhi had appointed an informal committee which has been meeting for the last two weeks to arrive at a solution to the contentious issue.
“We are hopeful for a decision on Telangana in November,” Govardhan Reddy told this newspaper from New Delhi.
The Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, had also gone on record that almost immediately after the Central Cabinet reshuffle, the Telangana issue would be taken up by the Congress leadership.
