Yesteryear playback singer and actor T.G. Kamala Devi, who is remembered for the memorable song Ithihaasam Vinnara… in the folklore classic Pathala Bhairavi (1951) passed away at Chennai, after a brief illness on August 16. She was 84 years.

Kamala Devi was a much sought after character actor in the 1950s and 1960s and shared honours with legendary actors like NTR and ANR. Her performance was widely appreciated in films like Malliswari, Dakshayagnam, Gunasundari Katha, Pettandarulu and Kathanayakudu. She acted in around 30 Telugu films.
